Run, Climb, Bark, Repeat at Lake Hopatcong

A hidden gem playground and dog park combo steps from the library on Weldon Road.

About Us

A modern playground with unique equipment and a natural setting.

Most locals who visit the Lake Hopatcong library regularly drive right past Creative Playground without a second glance. That changes the moment you actually stop. Slides, swings, climbing structures, and open green space greet kids the second they hop out of the car, and the energy is immediate.

Across the street sits a genuinely good dog park. It is not trying to be fancy, and that is exactly the point. There is plenty of room for dogs to stretch their legs, it rarely gets overcrowded, and the layout lets owners keep easy track of their animals. Two happy dogs and two happy kids on the same afternoon trip is a hard combination to beat.

Situated at 1029 Weldon Rd, the playground has been quietly delighting families who stumble upon it for the first time. With a 4.2-star rating built on real visits from real Lake Hopatcong residents, word is finally getting out that this little corner of town punches well above its weight.

What We Offer

The playground area delivers the classics kids genuinely love: slides that actually get fast, swings with good clearance, and climbing equipment that earns real effort. The layout gives younger children safe zones while older kids can push themselves a bit harder.

The dog park across Weldon Road offers open running space in a setting that stays manageable. Owners appreciate that it never feels like a chaotic free-for-all, and dogs get a real run rather than a shuffle around a cramped enclosure.

The surrounding area rounds the visit out naturally. The library is a short walk away, making it easy to combine an active outdoor stop with a quieter errand. Parking is accessible and the grounds are well-maintained, so the whole experience from arrival to departure stays low-stress.

"Wow I am impressed! I have lived in town six years and come to the library quite often and never knew this existed. The kids had a fantastic time playing on the slides and swings along with some of the other more challenging apparatuses. I, as an adult, enjoyed the larger exercise equipment and find the playground to be effective for calisthenics, strength, conditioning and fun training."

"Pictured: two very happy dogs. This dog park is actually really nice. It's not the Cadillac of dog parks or anything, but it's got plenty of space for the dogs to run, is never too crowded, and has plenty for the dogs to smell. We've never seen more than 3 other dogs here besides us, and that's been a good speed for our pups to play and make friends with the other dogs. There's two sections - a small dog and large dog side, which is a good option to have. The gravel seems like a weird choice at first, but the dogs are way cleaner afterwards. I worried initially about their paws and if the gravel hurt, but the dogs don't seem bothered one bit. One other detail - it's in the same parking lot as a large playground for kids, which I imagine is a huge bonus if you're trying to get both kids and dogs out!"
